What's Happening At JJIS:

Jack Jackter Art Show

The JJIS Art Show was held on Thursday evening and showcased the creativity, talent, and hard work of our students. Every student selected a piece of artwork they created this year to display, giving families and community members the opportunity to stroll through a gallery filled with student expression and achievement.
The highlight of the evening was the unveiling of Jaguar in the Wild, a stunning bottle cap mural that took two years to complete. Last year, students collected bottle caps of various sizes and colors, and this year the entire school worked collaboratively under the guidance of art teacher Rachel Schlachter to bring the mural to life. The project not only highlighted students' artistic abilities but also demonstrated the power of teamwork, perseverance, and school-wide collaboration.

State Level Invention Convention Winners

Congratulations to two of our students who were recognized at the Invention Convention held at University of Connecticut this weekend!
Owen Coffey, from Mrs. Jones’s class, received the Connecticut Science Center Award, which recognizes an inventive young student whose project demonstrates an exceptional blend of ingenuity and creativity from a youth-driven perspective.
Sofie Szydlowski, from Mr. Federici’s class, received the UConn Fine Arts Award, which honors an inventor who demonstrates out-of-the-box thinking and outstanding creative potential.
We are incredibly proud of Owen and Sofie for their hard work, innovation, and achievement. Their recognition reflects the creativity, curiosity, and problem-solving skills that make our students shine. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor!

5th Grade Social

The PTO-hosted 5th Grade Social was a huge success!
The celebration kicked off with an entertaining juggler performance that had students laughing and engaged. Throughout the event, students enjoyed a variety of foods, snacks, and refreshing boba tea while spending time with their friends.
The morning was spent outdoors taking advantage of the beautiful weather. Students enjoyed games, activities, and the opportunity to relax and make lasting memories with their classmates.
Later, everyone gathered inside to watch a special 5th-grade slideshow, thoughtfully compiled by the PTO, featuring memorable moments from their elementary school years. The event concluded with one of the most anticipated traditions of the season—signing yearbooks and sharing messages with friends.
A special thank you to the PTO and all of the volunteers who helped make this memorable event possible for our 5th-grade students as they prepare for their next exciting chapter!
