News from the office:

Winter Recess Update

A few reminders of our recess guidelines here at Jack Jackter:
  • Our cutoff temperature for outdoor recess is a "feels like" of 20*. If the "feels like" is 20* or higher we will be going outside.
  • Please have your child dress appropriately for the weather.
  • If there is outdoor recess all students must go out with their grade level.
  • Toys from home are not allowed to be brought out to recess.

Attendance Information

If your child is absent please send in a note upon their return to school for the absence to be considered excused. You may also email our attendance email at jjisattendance@colchesterct.org

After nine absences a doctors note is required for the absence to be considered excused.

The school store will be open for grade 4&5 students Tuesday January 13th from 8:20-8:55am.
 

What's Happening at JJIS

Flock Theater Artists in Residency

Grade 4 had a fantastic time kicking off our residency with Mr. Derron Wood and Mr. Victor Chirbis! Over the coming weeks, students will work with these talented artists, actors, screenwriters, and creators to produce an original shadow puppet play. During weekly lessons, students will write scripts, design and create shadow puppets, and rehearse their performances as they bring their stories to life.

Student Senators Attend CAS Leadership Conference

Our student senators had the opportunity to attend the CAS Student Leadership Conference held at Eastern Connecticut State University. The conference focused on developing leadership skills through hands-on activities designed to foster 21st-century leadership, including creative problem-solving, communication, decision-making, and productive thinking. Students will bring what they learned back to Jack Jackter as they prepare for upcoming student responsibilities and projects.
