For the safety and well-being of all our students, we kindly ask that pets stay at home or in vehicles during school hours, including parent pick-up and drop-off times. While we know many children love seeing animals, pets on school grounds can create allergy concerns and unexpected safety risks. The only animals permitted are trained service animals. Thank you for helping us keep our school a safe and welcoming place for everyone!

If your child is absent, please send a written note upon their return so the absence can be marked as excused. Families may also email our attendance office directly at jjisattendance@colchesterct.org. After nine absences, a doctor’s note is required for any additional absences to be considered excused. Thank you for your continued support in helping us maintain strong attendance!

We are excited to share a special educational opportunity for our 5th grade students! Through the JA Our Nation program, students will explore the skills needed to succeed in the 21st-century job market, with a focus on high-growth, high-demand careers. They’ll learn how science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) play a key role in building a bright future. This program will be offered before school, giving students a unique chance to engage in hands-on learning that connects directly to their futures.

Last Friday, our fourth graders had the exciting opportunity to take part in Instrument Night! Students were able to explore a variety of instruments, hear how they sound, and even receive some hands-on instruction and feedback. Every child had the chance to try out each instrument as they considered what they might like to play this year. A special thank-you goes to our band director, Jennifer Knickerbocker, for facilitating such a successful evening.

Our fifth grade band is in full swing! Students have begun attending both lessons and full band rehearsals, and their enthusiasm is already shining through. We’re excited to see their skills grow this year as they make music together!

Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade chorus is off to a fantastic start! The music room is already filled with energy, smiles, and lots of singing. Miss Lesser is thrilled to be working with such a talented and enthusiastic group of students and can’t wait for all the wonderful music they’ll create together this year!

Our PTO fundraiser, APEX has been in full swing this week. This is a two week fundraiser is an interactive leadership program combined with a fitness-focused event. During the fun-filled program, Apex encourages development of leadership habits, good character, and fitness. Chill Bill and Jazzy Ju Ju have visited classrooms everyday providing character building lessons on leadership.

Volunteering Opportunity:

Classes are all signed up and ready for volunteers! Volunteers will make sure kids are getting water and water breaks, cheer students on, mark off laps, be silly, and have fun! You must complete this district volunteer form by Monday, September 22nd at 8am to be eligible to volunteer and be present during the event. If you sign up after this, please fill out the form ASAP and then email jackjackterpto@gmail.com. You will not be allowed to the fun run without this form being approved.
