Medication Pick Up

Please be advised that all student medications currently in the nurse’s office must be picked up by 12 PM on June 13, 2025 by a parent or responsible adult. We will dispose of any medications that have not been picked up. Absolutely no medication (prescription medications or over the counter medication) will be sent home with students.

Medication Orders for Next Year

If your child will require any medication (prescription or over the counter) during the 2025-2026 school year, please have your child's provider complete a Medication Administration Form over the summer and submit to the nurse’s office prior to the start of school with your child’s medication. Please review the following policy:

Connecticut State Law and Regulations 10-212(a) requires the written medication order of an authorized prescriber (physician, APRN, dentist, physician assistant, optometrist) and a parent/guarding written authorization, for the school nurse, or in her absence, a designated principal or teacher to administer medication to students.

Medication must be hand-delivered to the nurse by a parent or responsible adult. As per the Colchester Board of Education policy, medication must be in its original container (if over the counter) or a pharmacy labeled container for prescription medication. Medication brought in plastic bags, envelopes, etc will not be accepted. Please check the expiration dates on all inhalers, Epi-Pens and over the counter medications to ensure they are not out of date.

Thank you for your cooperation and if you have any questions or concerns please contact the school nurse at 860-537-9421 extension 2 or by email at aporter@colchesterct.org.
