2026-2027 Student Information Forms

We have confirmed that forms are now visible in the Parent Portal:

Grade 2,5 and 8 families are the ONLY ones who will see the Annual School Change Residency Verification. That is the ONLY residency that needs to be completed by those grades. ALL other families should complete the Annual Residency Affirmation statement.

ALL families should complete the Student Information, Health Information, and Transportation Request forms IN ADDITION to the residency requirement.

Please contact the Office Professionals at your student's school with any questions.

Forms will close on June 1.

What's Happening At JJIS:

Energize CT - Energy in Action

This week some of our 4th grade students had an exciting opportunity to explore Energy in Action! A 55-foot mobile interactive exhibit visited our school, giving students a hands-on learning experience focused on energy efficiency and renewable energy sources—topics they have also been studying during science class. Through engaging displays and fun interactive activities, students discovered practical ways to reduce energy use at home and in the workplace while learning how renewable energy can help power our future. The Energy in Action Mobile Interactive Exhibit truly brought energy education to life! We are excited for the mobile unit to visit again this upcoming week so the rest of grade four can enjoy this wonderful experience.

Sturbridge Village Visits Jack Jackter

This week, our Grade 3 students had the opportunity to work with visitors from Old Sturbridge Village again as they learned all about textiles. Students explored different materials including cotton, silk, linen, and wool. Through hands-on activities, they carded wool, practiced weaving, and even planned out their own quilt designs. This engaging experience helped bring history and science to life for our curious students.

Grade 5 Visits William Johnston

This week, our Grade 5 students enjoyed a walking trip to William J. Johnston Middle School to get a glimpse of the exciting experiences that await them next year. Students participated in a question-and-answer session with current 6th graders, toured the school, and even had the chance to eat lunch in the cafeteria. They also learned about the many opportunities and classes available to them, including Design and Engineering, Innovations, and Computer courses. The visit helped students feel excited and prepared for their transition to middle school!

Fun and creative lessons have been taking place in the LMC to foster collaboration, problem-solving, and critical thinking. Students have enjoyed coding and working with Lego this week!

Third graders recently completed the Home At Last lesson as part of our trial of the LEGO Education technology program. Throughout the lesson, students worked together to collaborate, problem solve, and synthesize information while designing and building with LEGO materials in a fun and engaging way. Students demonstrated creativity, communication, and perseverance as they tested ideas and worked through challenges as a team. It has been exciting to see how hands-on learning increases student engagement and critical thinking.

Our Fourth Grade students continued working through Code.org's Course D, where they tackled coding challenges and strengthened their problem-solving skills. As part of the course, students used their coding knowledge to create new music and reimagine songs they already know and love.

Fifth graders completed a LEGO lesson called “Sun Snack.” During this hands-on activity, students applied what they learned about food chains and the Sun’s important role in providing energy for living things. Using LEGO materials, students designed and built their own food chains, demonstrating their understanding of how energy moves through an ecosystem in a fun and creative way.

We look forward to expanding this interactive approach to technology classes for all three grade levels next year.
