Fun and creative lessons have been taking place in the LMC to foster collaboration, problem-solving, and critical thinking. Students have enjoyed coding and working with Lego this week!
Third graders recently completed the Home At Last lesson as part of our trial of the LEGO Education technology program. Throughout the lesson, students worked together to collaborate, problem solve, and synthesize information while designing and building with LEGO materials in a fun and engaging way. Students demonstrated creativity, communication, and perseverance as they tested ideas and worked through challenges as a team. It has been exciting to see how hands-on learning increases student engagement and critical thinking.
Our Fourth Grade students continued working through Code.org's Course D, where they tackled coding challenges and strengthened their problem-solving skills. As part of the course, students used their coding knowledge to create new music and reimagine songs they already know and love.
Fifth graders completed a LEGO lesson called “Sun Snack.” During this hands-on activity, students applied what they learned about food chains and the Sun’s important role in providing energy for living things. Using LEGO materials, students designed and built their own food chains, demonstrating their understanding of how energy moves through an ecosystem in a fun and creative way.
We look forward to expanding this interactive approach to technology classes for all three grade levels next year.
